Rape Crisis (RASASC) invites you to create space for yourself in this 90 minute workshop. Facilitators will guide you through three creative activities which provide an opportunity to reflect on your unique strengths, what consent means, your value and to practice self-love. We may also find a collective power through sharing with each other, though all contributions are entirely optional, nobody will be asked to speak if they don’t want to.
Who is it for?
This event is for women student-survivors at Goldsmiths aged 18 and over. There are 8 spaces available for this workshop based on a first-come first serve basis.
Bring with you at the start of the session: pens (colouring, crayons, biro – anything is good!), paper, plasticine, any other creative materials, essential oils, candle, a cushion, blanket, cosy socks, anything that makes you feel comfortable. Please also arrive 10 minutes early so we can check all the tech is working too.
Self-care, Safeguarding, and Sexual Violence
At the start of the session we will take the time to ask for anything we need or want from the group or online space to create safety. If there is anything you'd like to talk to us about beforehand, you can always let us know. The room will be locked after 15 minutes, and there will be no new entry to the session afterwards.
We will not explicitly open up conversations to explore or talk about any specific experiences of sexual violence, however we neither discourage or encourage participants from doing so.
Our facilitators are specially trained and experienced in providing emotional support to survivors of sexual violence, though they are not qualified psychotherapists. Therefore this workshop is different to clinical group therapy space.
This event is a collaboration between the Against Sexual Violence project at Goldsmiths Students' Union and Rape Crisis as part of our 16 Days programming. If you have any questions, please email Lou (she/they) at firstname.lastname@example.org.
We're currently fighting to keep our funding. If you want to see community events like this continue at Goldsmiths SU, please consider supporting us. Find out more here.
