It's a sad day for millenials across the globe as actor Stefan Karl Stefansson, best known for playing Robbie Rotten on kids TV show Lazy Town, passes away following a long battle with cancer.

It's no secret that the actor had struggled with the disease, the internet had previously rallied around the star and even created a crowdfunding campaign to help pay for treatments.

Stefan's cancer briefly went into remission, but sadly he confirmed that it had returned and was inoperable earlier this year.

His long-running role as the LazyTown villain will be fondly remembered by fans worldwide, not least for the sheer amount of god-tier meme-able moments his character has given us.

The song "We Are Number One" resurfaced and took the web by storm back in 2016, spawning countless Soundcloud mashup bangers and eventually becoming one of the biggest memes of the decade.
