Designed to reduce cases of sexual assault, the Ask Angela scheme is finally being rolled out in Pompey.

Ask Angela is finally coming to Pompey, the scheme is centered around helping people get out of awkward and potentially dangerous situations. Over 40 venues including bars, clubs and restaurants have signed up to be a part of the operation.

Staff at the participating venues will be trained to give a helping hand to anyone who asks for Angela at the bar, which is bad news for anyone called Angela that works in hospitality.

Originally starting up in Lincolnshire, Ask Angela has become hugely popular throughout the country because of the simplicity and effectiveness of the scheme. It's designed to help people who feel vulnerable on a night out and might be with or followed by someone that is making them feel uncomfortable.

With Fresher's Week fast approaching, meaning a huge influx of students that don't have a support system around them yet in their new city, Ask Angela could mean the difference between getting home safely or winding up in a seriously sticky situation.

So if you feel like you might be in danger, ask a member of staff for Angela at any of the following venues:
