The much beloved Brighton venue will cease trading and close its doors later this year.

Sticky Mike's Frog Bar is a venue as storied and cool as its namesake, it is allegedly the name artist Jean-Michel Basquiat would have given a club if he owned one

After almost eight years of service, this bastion of the Brighton live music scene announced closure today via Facebook. The venue, situated on Middle Street, will close its doors for the last time on Dec 31st this year.

As well as some of the best live music in Brighton SMFB also hosted club nights, comedy shows, open deck nights. Such diversity saw an incredibly varied list of names, from Harry Hill to Japanese Breakfast, grace the stage throughout the venue's time.

The venue didn't cite a reason for the closure, stating simply that "there are far too many issues that cannot be resolved". The statement also thanked the supporters, patrons and artists from over the years.

SMFB intends to go out with a bang and hold some huge parties to celebrate eight years of Sticky Mike's, so keep tabs on their Facebook page for future announcements.
