However the new plans will be helping the community

It's been a whirlwind of a time over the past couple of years with venues like Thekla announcing they're being threatened with closure, while others such as Bierkeller feel victim and couldn't fight back.

Everything from tiny pubs where new guitar bands can cut their teeth to huge venues are at risk of closure, and the latest in that list is a big one. A staple part of any week as a student at Bristol University: Lakota may be about to close.

News broke today (October 9) that it could be turned into accomodation and offices as the owners are looking to sell it in search of newer opportunities. The change won't be immediate; there's still a big chance that you'll be able to go out to Lakota for most of the rest of your degree, but nonetheless it's a big name in the Bristol scene to be facing the axe.

The owners wish to use the land to help the local community with the introduction of new homes and offices, and these will replace the club. So despite it being a sad loss, it will hopefully really aid the rest of the city.

They have assured clubgoers that, for now, it's "very much business as usual".
