The law comes into effect in the coming weeks

statement made today by Secretary of State for the Home Department, Sajid Javid, lays out new regulations that will see cannabis-based products rescheduled.

As of November 1st, any product that satisfies the below three requirements will be rescheduled to Schedule 2:

1. It needs to be a preparation or product which contains cannabis, cannabis resin, cannabinol or a cannabinol derivative;
2. It is produced for medicinal use in humans and;
3. Is a medicinal product, or a substance or preparation for use as an ingredient of, or in the production of an ingredient of, a medicinal product.

Which means that medicinal products fitting these requirements will be available via prescription from a doctor, for use in clinical trials, and if given a marketing authorisation (don't get your hopes up), available to purchase.
