Brighton's newest event organisers are bringing 808 Ink, Eyez, and Sonny Jim to Patterns this October.

Cleancluts are the newest promotion and events company to break into the Brighton scene. Formerly based in Vietnam working in conjunction with Vibrations Hanoi, the lads have worked with a variety of artists, but now, upon their return to the UK, they have grounded themselves in the underground urban scene.

The boys are very excited to start throwing parties in Brighton, and look to bring a roster of exciting talent to the shores of South England. For their first event they are hosting alternative UK hiphop duo 808 Ink from South London, Eyez, one of the best MCs to emerge from the new generation of grime, and UK rapper Sonny Jim, who hails from the West Midlands. The night will be held at Patterns on the 28th of October.

I caught up with some of the boys for a brief interview, heres what they had to say:

So how did Clean Cuts start? Do you have previous experience in events/music?

We both worked on mainstream EDM events in Hanoi, Vietnam previously with ‘Vibration Hanoi’, they brought artists like Skrillex, Deorro, Aly & Fila etc. to the capital.

We got to work on a bit of a passion project while we were there and put together a little tour for Jam Baxter & Chemo and also shot the music videos for ‘Soi 36’ & ‘Teeth Marks’ while travelling down the country. We realised that the UK music scene is where we needed to be and moved back to England and started ‘Clean Cuts Productions’.

This is your very first event as Clean Cuts, talk us through the bookings...

We had a lot of fun putting the line up together, it’s a very alternative Grime/UKHH night. 808INK are like nothing we’ve ever heard before, we’re so excited to be the first people to bring them to Brighton. We’ve been massive fans of Eyez and SonnyJim for a long time and love all the material coming out from the boys at Yogocop.

Is there a theme to Clean Cuts and the nights you'll be throwing?

We are looking to be as open to different genres as possible. You can expect to see a lot of Hip-Hop and Grime from us over the next year. Big announcements coming soon!

For you, what makes the perfect party?

For us what is really important is to create a world for the party-goer that completely engulfs them, through production, set design, line up etc, so they are fully immersed in the experience. A perfect example of this is what the guys at Boomtown have created, it’s incredible how much detail they have put in.

Which 3 DJs or artists would you book for a night if you had an endless wallet of mula?

Oh shit. It would have to be Kendrick Lamar, Freddie Gibbs and BROCKHAMPTON for me.

Theo would go for Anderson .Paak, BADBADNOTGOOD and Mick Jenkins.

Who are your favourite up and comers/ who should we look out for?

IAMDDB, Kojey Radical, Celeste and Lebeaux are all killing it. They are definitely worth checking out.

Do you have anything big lined up for the future?

Yes lots in the works. We will announce our next event later on next month.

Finally, what are you listening to right now?

BROCKHAMPTON and a lot of Masego for me at the moment. Theo is listening to 6LACK, Toro y Moi and New Gen.
