OVERPROOF is a brand new grime and UK hip hop night curated by the man himself, Rags, and the Brighton hip-hop collective, Rum Committee.

Born in Uckfield, East Sussex – Rory Charles Graham, aka Rag 'n' Bone Man started the foundations of his musical career at the age of 15, MCing as part of a drum and bass crew. Using the handle of Rag 'N' Bonez, the inspiration for his name came from watching repeats of the 1970s British sitcom Steptoe and Son.

When he moved to Brighton, his friend Gi3mo formed the Rum Committee (now collaborators for OVERPROOF), a Brighton supercrew and invited Rags to join the group. Performing at now-defunct club night Slip-jam B, his time at the event was vital for connections that helped him kickstart his musical career. Over the next few years, the Rum Committee supported hip-hop legends such as Pharaoh Monch and KRS_One at Brighton's Concorde 2 (now home to the launch of their new night). In 2012 they self-released their debut album Boozetown through Bandcamp on their label.

Around 2011, Rags started working with UK hip-hop label High Focus, releasing collaborative EP's with MC/Producer Leaf Dog under the alias of 'Dog 'n Bone', and with MC/Producer Dirty Dike under the moniker of 'Put That Soul On Me'.

Shortly after his work with High Focus, Rags began to collaborate with record producer Mark Crew – who at the time was working on Bastille's debut Bad Blood. 2013 saw the year that Rags signed a publishing deal with Warner Chappell - allowing him to pursue his music career full-time. In collab with Mark Crew, Rags released his debut EP Wolves through Best Laid Plans Records. The EP contains nine tracks with an impressive feature list including rapper Vince Staples, Stig Of The Dump, and Kate Tempest. The follow-up EP: Disfigured was released in 2015, again through Best Laid Plans Records – with lead track 'Bitter End' breaking onto the BBC Radio 1 and 1Xtra - and all affiliated playlists.

However, it wasn't until 2016 did Rags truly have his first hit single, with 'Human' on Columbia Records. Peaking at number one in singles charts all around the world, the song was famously used in the Amazon Prime series Oasis - making Rag 'n' Bone Man a household name. His debut album, also titled Human was released in early 2017 - shifting a whopping 750,000 copies in the UK to date.

Since his debut album, Rags collaborative spirit hasn't faded, with his most recent guest verse featuring on 'The Apprentice' with virtual band Gorillaz, on their album Humanz. In the 2017 general election Rag 'n' Bone Man endorsed Labour Party leader Jeremy Corbyn, saying that Corbyn was a 'man that speaks with passion.'

Earlier this year Rags had his first son with partner Beth Rouy, and has now launched his new project back on home turf. OVERPROOF, a brand new club night at Concorde 2 is set to showcase the finest Grime, Rap, and UK Hip-hop. The first event features Grime MC P Money, rappers Dead Players, co-host hip-hop collective Rum Committee (formerly featuring Rags himself), and Bobbie Johnson and Ray Keith.
