The spaced-out sounds of Portsmouth Psych Festival are back again for 2018!

Portsmouth Psych Fest was a roaring success last year, it showcased some of the best mind-melting psychadelic music the UK has to offer. This year the people of Portsmouth will once again be entranced by the spaced-out sounds of psych as the festival continues in 2018. Portsmouth Psych Fest will be back on the 28th April 2018, taking over many of the biggest and best venues throughout Portsmouth.

Headlining the festival will be one of the country’s finest live acts, Flamingods:

“A four-piece, multi-instrumental band from Bahrain & London founded in 2010. The group explores and experiments with an array of influences from Western Psychedelia, Jazz and Indie to a wide-eyed obsession with music from the East. Using a vast selection of instruments from the Middle East and Asia, the band marries this with Western instrumentations of synthesisers, guitars and drums to create a potent sound all of its own that they call ‘Exotic Psychedelia’.”

The rest of the bill features Portsmouth psych/kraut fiends Melt Dunes, London outfit Black Midi who make a cacophony of noise/art rock and are one of the most talked about bands within the London underground scene at the moment for their blistering live show, spellbinding psych meets post-punk quartet Madonnatron, excellent Southampton garage-rock Honeymooner signings Mystic Peach, Reading krautrock outfit Palm Honey, Brighton psych/garage rock trio Strange Cages, scuzzy post punk lot Yowl, Ninth Wave, fun-filled grunge-pop meets shoegazers Yassassin, London by the way of Portsmouth punks Hotel Lux, as well as Portsmouth’s own disco-psych-pop Pie & Vinyl, favourites Barbudo, cosmic-psychedelic quintet Number 9 and Lucid Rising who make bluesy- sun soaked garage/psych in the vein of The Growlers, Night Beats and Natural Child.

On top of that mammoth lineup, Innerstrings (The Liverpool International Festival of Psychedelia, Lewes Psych Fest) will be bringing their famous psychedelic light show to The Wedgewood Rooms, along with some additional art installation with the help of local artist My Dog Sighs.

Tickets are available from The Wedgewood Rooms in person at the box office or online via Dice & Skiddle priced at £13 (adv)
