Jakobsson has been known by the names Rimbaudian and Birds of Sweden over the years, with DJ Seinfeld being his most recent, and arguably most well-known persona.

He created DJ Seinfeld after a bad breakup, which resulted in him shutting himself in his room and watching reruns of the American TV-show Seinfeld, which then inspired his tongue-in-cheek name.

DJ Seinfeld was initially only meant to be a side-project, with his main focus remaining on his popular music produced as Rimbaudian, but as labels began to show interest in his music, DJ Seinfeld became Jakobsson’s mainstream platform.

He has released music with the labels Meda Fury, Ectotherm, UN.T.O and the collaborative label Lobster Fury, explicitly made to release his tracks.

Initially used as an escape from his studies and stresses, the music Jakobsson produces is authentic and emotional, embodying individual experiences and feelings within his electronic sound. His music is similar to Ross from Friends and DJ Boring in this respect, with these up-and-coming artists defining the continually growing house and electronic music scene.

The track ‘U’ began his break into mainstream popularity after it went viral and it remains his most popular track today. This distinctive track interweaves Bob Geldof’s account of his split with his wife with an emotional and down-to-earth backing track, using his music to give a passionate and truthful account of real life.

This track came from his album Time Spent Away From U, which reminds listeners of the early house pioneers, whose tracks were distorted with tape noise due to their newly emerging technology. DJ Seinfeld merges this vintage style with RnB and house music, giving his tracks a 90s disco vibe.

Despite his success as a lo-fi artist, his uniqueness emerges from the raw emotion contained within each individual track, showing the serious side hiding below his non-serious facade.

Having become of the most unique producers in the lo-fi house scene, DJ Seinfeld will be showcasing his talents in Brighton this month, performing alongside Charles Green, Mehtola and J-Felix.

The event will be across both the upstairs and downstairs of Patterns, giving clubbers a chance to either go downstairs and dance the night away or listen to the DJ music upstairs in the chilled-out bar atmosphere.

DJ Seinfeld is one of many exceptional bookings Patterns have locked in for the first quarter of 2018.

Grab your tickets in advance to secure yourself a chance to see the up-and-coming record producer live.
