The Scottish festival is bringing some huge names to Glasgow this summer, but there are some hidden gems elsewhere on the bill.

TRNSMT Festival will take place over two weekend at the end of June and beginning of July in Scotland. Headlined by the Arctic Monkeys, Liam Gallagher, Stereophonics and more, we take a look at some other acts on the bill that you definitely shouldn't miss across the five days.

Tom Grennan
The husky tones of Tom Grennan have graced our radio waves for a good year now, and the young rock’n’roller seems to be going from strength to strength. His newest single ‘Sober’ was chosen my Annie Mac as her Hottest Record in the World on Radio 1, and after recording Maida Vale Session, it’s clear he’s a favourite with the big DJs. With his debut album Lighting Matches set to be released on Insanity Records in May, Tom will enter the festival circuit no doubt brimming with confidence off the back of the debut. Think Rag’n’Bone man meets gravelly, country rock band and you’re on the right lines. His quirky get-up and cool-as-a-cucumber persona mean he’s already made a firm dent in the industry, and his swaggering, rustic performance is not one to be missed.

Lewis Capaldi
With two UK headline tours and a killer EP under his belt, this Glaswegian 21-year-old has the world at his feet. ‘Bruises’ and ‘Lost On You’ reached a staggering 35 million streams globally, Capaldi showing he is not only a gifted song-writer but a captivating vocalist. Citing Paulo Nutini as one of his biggest influences, it’s clear to hear the heavy rasp in Capaldi’s live performance, storytelling his way through beautiful track after beautiful track. He’s more than comfortable on stage with his guitar, so it seems only fitting he’s sharing the stage with some great UK talent.

IAMDDB
This Mancunion star is definitely making a name for herself in the UK hip hop scene. Mixing trap beats and electronic synthesisers, IAMDDB is a badass chick not to be messed with, calling her sound “urban jazz”. Having toured with Bryson Tiller last November, she is more than ready to take to the festival stage independently, busting out infectious smooth beats like ‘Shade’ and ‘More’, and there is sure to be no tea, just shade this summer when IAMDDB takes to TRNSMT’s King Tut’s Stage.

Marmozets
The Yorkshire band recently claimed people were wrong if they thought rock’n’roll was dead, and, boy, don’t they show it. With their second album Knowing What You Know Now coming out of the backend of last year, this under-the-radar female-fronted five-piece are back and better than ever, alive and kicking as festival season approaches. They’ve been active since 2007, but this new album brings with it a new punk-rock survival, punchy and full of bite.

Pale Waves
After the Manchester four-piece were named as #5 on the BBC Sound of 2018 Shortlist, the band are currently making waves (pardon the pun) across North America. Their unique, pop-synth, 80s eccentricity is like nothing on the market right now, and they are by far Manchester’s biggest new alternative creation. A product of Dirty Hit Records (The 1975, Wolf Alice), the band are paving the way for goth-pop, and are set to be a huge hit at TRNSMT this summer.

The Sherlocks
Dubbing themselves as festival headliners in the near future, and one of the most exciting new guitar bands around right now, Yorkshire-based The Sherlocks are not to be missed at TRNSMT. Compared to the Arctic Monkeys, they released their debut album Live For The Moment last summer. They formed in 2010 but it took four years for their first song to be properly released, with the single of ‘Live For The Moment’ introducing the two sets of brothers onto the scene. They were signed by Infectious Music in December 2016 and since then things could not have gone better. With a few performances at festivals like Reading and Leeds already under their belt, you can expect a set from one of the most promising indie rock bands in the industry when they headline the King Tut’s Stage on Saturday, June 30.

The Darkness
Already extremely well-established in the music scene, classic rock band The Darkness will bring their incredible show to Scotland on Friday, July 6. The four-piece behind ‘I Believe In A Thing Called Love’ and Christmas banger ‘Christmas Time (Don’t Let The Bells End)’ are incredible live, and their most recent album Pinewood Smile, released last year, will only extend their back catalogue of fantastic tunes. Originally formed in 2000 and then stopped in 2006, the English rockers reformed five years later and have been excellent since. A break from the industry helped the group recalibrate, and they now know what’s brilliant and what should be avoided when performing, so there won’t be a fault during their set. On the day headlined by Queen + Adam Lambert, The Darkness on the main stage will be an event you must witness.

The Magic Gang
Magic and music, what more could you ask for? The Brighton group were recently announced as the support act for The Wombats’ European tour dates, and March 16 saw the band’s debut album come out. Simply called The Magic Gang, it feature sthe singles ‘How Can I Compete’, ‘Alright’ and ‘Your Love’, and has been received with a hugely positive critical reception. The early part of the King Tut’s Stage on Sunday, July 1 will welcome their cheerful indie beats inspired by depressing heartbreak. The Times compared them to The Beach Boys and The Beatles, and it’s easy to see why. Every song is upbeat and sounds perfect for a relaxing day in the sun with your best mates watching some bands at a festival.

Sam Fender
We recently reviewed a Sam Fender gig in Bristol, and his show at TRNSMT is sure to bring the same moody, alternative rock to Scotland. Recent release ‘Friday Fighting’ is just one of the deep guitar tracks you will hear when he plays the King Tut’s Stage on the opening day of the festival. He’s just finished a tour of the whole of the UK and has had lots of time to work on his on-stage sound, so his dark guitar and lyric partnership will have been perfected by the time he plays on Friday, June 29.

Tom Walker
Headlining The King Tut’s Stage on the same day, Manchester singer-songwriter Tom Walker may not have been around for as long as main headliners Stereophonics, but his skill on stage and his intense music is sure to look like he has. ‘Karma’ showcases his excellent, passionate singing voice and his recent EP Blessings exposes the diverse range of music he offers, including more guitar-led ‘Just You and I’ in comparison to the drum beats of ‘Karma’. He has a UK tour beginning mid-March until the end of the month, which is a great opportunity to see Tom Walker before he undoubtedly recruits new fans at TRNSMT.
