DJ, producer and cartoonist Mr. Scruff will be returning to Orange rooms after his last visit, all the way back in 2013! If there was one way to describe Mr. Scruff, it would be fun, exciting and versatile; and an intimate club environment, like Orange Rooms, is the perfect place to get the most out of his musical selection.

Mr. Scruff takes influence from so many different genres while creating his own cartoon visuals to accompany his sets; illustrating flyers, record sleeves and CD covers. His flawless vinyl sets reflect his musical knowledge and experience, whilst adding a hint of humour to keep the crowd uplifted.

Since he started mixing vinyl back in 1984, he has taken every step possible to increase his musical knowledge. Now, mixing anything from blues to drum & bass, his record collection and selection is unrivalled. Mr. Scruff has been in the game for years, and his skills as a producer live up to his abilities on the decks. Some of you might remember the sample music back on your windows 7 school PC?

Well, everyone’s favourite song at the time ‘Kalimba’ was in fact produced by the man himself, Mr. Scruff.

And if you can’t remember that, then get a move on and listen to his most successful release from back in 2001…

Over his 30 years spanning as a DJ and producer, he has released tracks on over 25 labels, including Warp, Sirkus, Disorient, Blood & Fire, Cup of Tea, and finally Ninja Tune. Luckily, his set at Orange Rooms this Friday is a long slot, otherwise Mr. Scruff may well have turned it down. However, this is only because his love for a wide-range of genres is reflected in his unquestionable desire to have the full night to transgress into every far corner of his record collection.

With a packed festival schedule this summer at the likes of Gottwood, Dekmantel, Houghton and Lost Village, this Friday at Orange rooms is the perfect opportunity to see Mr. Scruff in the flesh, in a small and intimate environment fuelled by good vibes.
