University of South Wales Graduate Interns are putting on their first event in aid of Llamau UK.

On Thursday the 22nd of March, University of South Wales Graduate Interns are hosting a charity fundraising gig at Porter’s Cardiff all in aid for Llamau UK. Llamau is a local Welsh charity that’s main aim is to end youth homelessness and to protect vulnerable women and since it was founded 30 years ago, they have supported over 67,000 young people, women and their children who were either homeless or facing homelessness.

The University of South Wales first started to support Llamau back in 2017 with a Christmas card donation and have since entered into a two-year partnership with the charity. Professor Julie Lydon, Vice-Chancellor of the University of South Wales, said: “Llamau is a charity that campaigns and actively supports young people who are homeless, especially young women.  We are pleased to be working with another fantastic organisation that has contributed so much to social justice in Wales.”

For their first charity event, the graduate interns have put together an event that will feature live music from USW Graduates and alumni, as well as a BBC Radio Wales featured young artist, such as:

Glass Jackets:

Formed by four songwriting masters students in 2016, Glass Jackets are a four-piece folk/rock/blues outfit. With a mutual love for the art of songwriting in all its glorious forms, GJ produce an infectious mix of the familiar and the original.  Drawing inspiration from the likes of Bob Dylan, Frank Turner, The Beatles and The Rolling Stones, GJ are here to deliver their own, modern spin on classic folk/rock/blues to the people of Cardiff and beyond.

Filthy/Gorgeous:

A five-piece funk/soul band straight out of Cardiff, filled with pocket, soul, and groove!

Bryony Sier:

Bryony Sier is a singer/songwriter and guitarist from South Wales.  Over the last 5 years she’s performed on BBC Radio Wales and a session with Bethan Elfyn, came second place in the Battle of the Bands Youth Final and had her songs played on BBC Introducing.  Bryony has also played Hub Festival, Swn Festival, The Big Cheese Festival and Rock N Ale. Inspired by Johnny Cash, Neil Young, Emmylou Harries, Jack Bugg and Ben Howard, Bryony Sier is a Folk/Country/Blues artist with big things on the horizon!

And Julian Blackshaw too!

Free Entry, live music and raffle prizes, all whilst supporting a fantastic charity? What’s not to like?  Get down to Porters on the 22nd of March for a fantastic night of live music and to make a difference!
