The rise of a raw and rugged sounding style of house has led to DJ Boring creating an impact with his musical production and skills as a DJ. Using unorthodox technique to gain samples, creating an interesting texture and refined sound and style, his live sets are sure to be exciting and intricate; and the club space at Junk is suited perfectly to his fun and energetic aura. His use of plug-ins and recordings from hardware are prominent throughout production, and this style of groovy Lo-Fi house has taken-off as of late.

His breakthrough came at the end of 2016, when he released his EP Winona, which included a vocal sample from an interview with actress Winona Ryder. The track became one of the standout tracks of 2017. He likes to use samples which relate to himself, and his personal connections with the music are shown through his energy behind the decks.

DJ Boring makes music for himself, and his fun-filled style is shown through the tracks he released throughout last year. His most recent releases come from his label, co-founded with Stanley Schmidt, Vienna. The label launched just a month ago, and it hopes to create a space for friends and like-minded artists to call home. The collaboration on Vienna 001 nods to the 90’s golden-age of raving and electronic dance music culture.

The record released on 12’ and is accompanied by fun, funky and vibrant artwork. Check out DJ Boring’s solo track from the EP below.

DJ Boring combines both old and new music, mixing vinyl, keeping the crowds on their toes whilst they dance the night away. His summer schedule is looking packed, where you can expect to see him all over the world at international festivals and club-nights alike.

There is definitely a big future ahead of DJ Boring, so don’t miss the perfect opportunity to catch him in an intimate environment at Southampton’s Junk. As Junk have come together with Bloom for this event, you can also expect to see a strong line-up in the prelim sets, from the likes of Aaron Bloom, Familiar face and the SEMSU DJ’s.

For a taste of what to expect on the night, check out his set which was recorded at Keep Hush back in June last year.
