Our second live session from Dot to Dot is James Humphrys, an indie pop act whose funky upbeat tunes will give you a good time on the dance floor.

He describes himself as a Tropical Dream Sandwich which, as musician bios go, is a pretty good one.

We caught up with James before his evening slot at Mr Wolfs, where he brought the house down and played to a packed room of movers and shakers. For most performances James plays with a full live band, but luckily for us James can hold his own as a solo act and we got to hear some of his great songs totally stripped back.

Our session in the park took a few odd and amusing turns, with James duetting ‘Wonderwall’ with a groom-to-be in front of an entire stag-do. He was up for a bit of good-spirited fun though, and it definitely brightened up our day.

James played two songs live on our Facebook page, including his latest single ‘The River’. Native are big fans of this song, and we actually premiered it when it came out a couple of months ago. It’s a groove-filled number, with an infectious bassline that hooks you in from the get-go. James also played ‘For Another’, the track featured below, a fan favourite from his 2017 EP Sun Mantra.

He and the band were on top form at D2D, and now we can’t wait for his headline show at The Crofter’s Rights on June 12. With Joe Probert and Agata supporting, it’s going to be a great night. Grab a ticket here.
