Get to know 21-year-old Hertfordshire-hometown, singer/songwriter – Ten Tonnes.

Talented up-and-coming musician Ethan Barnett, better known by his stage name Ten Tonnes, has recently released his latest track, ‘Lay It On Me’. After previously performing this track live, he has finally shared the long-anticipated record, which had already received a positive reaction from his fanbase.

This love song is about committing to someone after spending time apart from them, with Ethan’s upbeat style and powerful vocals creating a positive image of relationships. His style of music in his latest track has evolved from his previous hits, with the added synth in Lay It On Me giving his indie sound a more electronic vibe.

His heavy vocals allow him to successfully move between blues and electronic genres of music, with his acoustic guitar talents complimenting his evolving sound. Ten Tonne’s sound is similar to that of The Kooks and Lewis Watson, whilst heavily influenced by the iconic music of The Beatles, who inspired him at a young age to pick up a guitar and begin working on his own blues music.

Initially gaining popularity from his 2016 EP Lucy, Ethan has since released an increasing stream of music, with his career snowballing towards popularity with every new track. Lucy, his first EP, complimented his unique, blues vocals, causing attention to be brought to this new star entering the music scene. Each of his tracks has their own individual style, with his record ‘Stop’ being extremely successful for its varied and lively instrumental layering, making listeners feel envious of Ethan’s distinctive sound.

One of his more recent tracks, Cracks Between, has now become his most popular track, with the music video gaining 56,000 views and counting on Youtube. Accompanied by an artistic and well-crafted music video, it is not surprising that fans have found themselves captivated by Ten Tonne’s talent.

This record embodies the indie, modern rock style that is becoming extremely popular in the New Year. Ethan is bringing his own unique style to this continually growing genre, with his catchy, positive songs making listeners feel inspired and energised by his music.

During 2018, Ten Tonnes is showing no signs of slowing down, with his year being jam-packed with tours and live shows. He has started off the year strong, accompanying Rat Boy on his tour around the UK, which ended on February 10th. Since the tour, he has released numerous videos on Youtube, capturing his experiences performing to his fans in multiple locations, including Dublin, Manchester and Brixton.

Ethan expresses his happiness with the tour, showing himself to be having an incredible time on stage, with his video captions asking his fans to comment if they were at his performances. His intimate relationship with his fans doesn't go unnoticed, with many of his dedicated fans commenting supportive messages to Ethan, telling him how much they enjoyed the concert and hoping he will be back again for more.

He keeps his fans busy with his weekly playlist on Spotify that is published for others to enjoy. Not only does this include his own music, but some of his own favourites, with a huge variety of genres incorporated, including the likes of Take That, The Cure, T.Rex and The Smiths.

Luckily, Ten Tonnes will soon be starting his next tour, where he will be accompanying the hugely popular band Stereophonics on their 2018 tour. They will be performing at the sell-out event in Brighton Centre on 27th February, so those who already secured their tickets will have the chance to hear Ten Tonnes perform his original music, alongside covers by some of his favourite bands.

There will be many opportunities to see Ten Tonnes in the future, with this up-and-coming musician moving into the limelight as the year continues!
