Top Five Sheffield Valentine's Events

by Claudia Downs, Feb 07, 2018

There's something for everyone in the Steel City this Valentine's Day!

Whether you’re loved-up or flying solo this Valentine’s Day, Sheffield has all kinds of special events on offer for February 14th. Here’s a few of our top picks:

Leadmill Cinematic + Galentines Night @ Leadmill
Screening 7:30pm, club night 11pm - late

Round up your best girl-friends for a screening of the iconic chick-flick Mean Girls at the Leadmill, complete with themed cocktails, popcorn and pick and mix. Every ticket comes with entry to the Galentines club night afterwards, where you can expect an upbeat soundtrack featuring the best women in pop, such as Rihanna, Beyonce, Ariana Grande and more. Tickets available here

Small Decks #22: Valentine’s Special @ The Washington
9pm - 2am

Hosted by the University of Sheffield’s alternative music society ‘Small Ideas’ at indie bar The Washington, Small Decks handpick DJs from amongst their ranks to play a huge variety of alternative music. In their words, “from breakbeat to vaporwave, from grindcore to funk, from hip hop to jazz fusion and back again, no genre is too far out no beat too freaky.” The Valentine’s Special promises to be “a night of alternative passion and warm loving vibes.” And if that doesn’t convince you, it’s free entry too!

Valentine’s Pizza Special @ BrewDog Sheffield
12pm - 11:30pm

No matter how you feel on Valentine’s Day, it’s important to remember a universal truth: pizza will never break your heart. BrewDog knows this and, alongside its fantastic selection of craft beers and ales, is offering 2 for 1 pizzas. Accompanied by an alternative Valentine’s soundtrack, you can relax with a perfectly cheesy heart-shaped pizza, and even go half-and-half on toppings with your person of choice.

The Village Screen @ Abbeydale Picture House
Doors 6:30pm, starts 8:30pm

Head down to the beautiful former cinema and listed location, Abbeydale Picture House, for a candlelit screening of Baz Luhrmann’s cult classic Romeo + Juliet. As well as the film, there’ll be live music and a 90’s soundtrack in the car park, street food provided by Proove Pizza and The Blue Caribou Canteen, and a bar serving cinema snacks, themed drinks and beers from local breweries. “Audiences are encouraged to get cosy, bring blankets and snuggle up to your nearest and dearest for a magical night in fair Verona.” Tickets available here

Doodle Club Valentine’s Special @ Roco Creative Co-Op
6pm - 9pm

Hosted by local illustrator Geo Law, the Doodle Club is a chance to get creative through doodling tasks whilst enjoying a drink in a laid-back environment, be it with your partner, friends or by yourself. There’s also more artists to be announced who will be sharing their work. If you’re in the mood for something a bit more romantic, ‘Speed Doodling’ will give you the chance to meet new people in an unconventional way, steering clear of awkward small talk by encouraging communication through drawing. Tickets available here
