The British exit from the European Union has been one of the most significant political events in our nation's contemporary history and promises to continue to affect each and every one of our lives in profound ways as we move now into an uncertain future. Being able to understand the ongoing events of Brexit is hugely important for us all as politically engaged citizens, and so the Goldsmiths Debating Society is proud to be hosting "Britain after Brexit: How we got here and where we go next". This virtual event will take the form of an online panel discussion via Zoom, taking place from 6-7:30pm on Thursday the 25th of February. A link to join the Zoom meeting will be emailed out beforehand to all ticket holders.
Did you find all the news around Brexit too complex and/or depressing to follow over the last few years? If so, you're not alone. This panel discussion will a brief and accessible breakdown of the tumultuous events of the last few years which lead the UK to where we are now, as well as including a speculative conversation about what we might expect to see in our post-Brexit future. The panel will be comprised of a variety of invited subject experts, to be unveiled shortly on the Goldsmiths Debating Society's Instagram page. There will also be a QandA portion at the end where audience members will get the opportunity to pitch questions of their own to the panel for further discussion. This promises to be a highly enjoyable and informative event, so you definitely don't want to miss out!
