Our writers handpick what to do, on one of the year's most debauched day-drinking days...

There’s only one day a year where it’s acceptable to get drunk before midday and roll yourself in green paint. The time has come to don a shamrock, and party on down with a Guinness in each hand.

There’s plenty of Irish hospitality on offer throughout Brighton and Hove this Saturday, so here are our top picks for one of the rowdiest days in the UK calendar...

Fiddler's Elbow - Street Party

The Fiddler’s Elbow will be hosting a legendary four day St Patrick’s Day event to celebrate the annual Irish holiday. Starting on Friday and continuing until Monday evening, The Fiddler’s Elbow have many amazing events planned, including face painting, live music, open mic and, of course, there will be tons of Guinness. Saturday will be the day of the street party, which has been running for 23 years and is one of Brighton’s most popular St Patrick’s Day events. Head down to The Fiddler’s Elbow this year to join in with the festivities and the craic.

Walkabout - St. Paddy's Day 2018

No trip to West Street is complete without a visit to Walkabout. Open til 3 am, this Australian-themed bar will definitely be pulling out all the stops for St Patrick’s Day. St P’s day is always busy, but the fact that it coincides with a Saturday means it could be the messiest one in years. Head to Walkabout for drinks deals, a lively atmosphere, and undoubtedly some questionable Irish accent impersonations.

Sub-Liminal Recordings are blessing Brighton with this belter, so put on your dancing shoes and get yourself down to the seafront for a night of Jump Up and Drum and Bass that’s bound to blow you away. With DJ Limited on the headline and Klip & Outlaw making an appearance, it’s sure to be a late one — don’t miss it!

Pryzm - Playground Saturdays: St. Patrick's Day Special

Pryzm in Brighton is one of the most iconic nightclubs on the seafront. Every weekend it gets rammed full of partygoers, from students to hen-parties, work socials to aspiring football players, and everyone in between. St Patrick’s Day will be no exception. Tickets for this event have been on-sale for weeks in advance, as St Paddy’s day is notoriously a busy one. Expect the usual mix of house, R&B and commercial, with a slightly more Irish atmosphere.
