Brighton is amongst the best places in the world for ballin' on a budget.

Although it's not necessarily financially viable, sometimes you've just got to treat yourself. You've been rotating between pasta and instant noodles for what feels like eternity and you want a taste of a lifestyle that's not so obviously broke. Well with these reasonably priced, mouth-watering options, you'll be living boujee on a budget without severely damaging your balance.

Happy Maki

I cannot recommend this place enough, in my eyes this is the best food money can buy in Brighton. For just £5.50, with a student card, you can get the most delicious and filling sushi roll your mouth has ever desired. Rich with wasabi, ginger and teriyaki sauce, the divine, 100% vegan sushi will change your life.

From unclockable fake hoisin duck and fake chicken, to avocado and sweet potato stuffed wraps, Happy Maki's delivers vegan goodness every damn time, and for just £5.50, you'll be extremely full, and your money will be well-spent, as Happy Maki are a ethically inclined company, with a small percentage of every purchase going towards feeding children and planting trees.

Pom Poko

This Brighton institution is the place for quick, ludicrously cheap and absolutely exquisite Japanese food. For under a fiver you can delve into a seemingly infinite amount of noodle bowls, stir-frys and dumplings. You can eat in at this cosy restaurant, or get it to go. It is never a long wait and always delicious, making this one of the most reliable cheap-eats in the city.

Bagelman

It's not all about cheap dinners, Bagelman, with locations in Hove, The Laines, and Brighton train station (and available on deliveroo), is the ultimate cheap lunch. For under a fiver, there's a range of different bagels, with fillings catering to any dietary preferences. Why settle for a meal deal when you can get this jam-packed, super filling delight?

Beezlebab

Another vegan option for you, because it wouldn't be a Brighton based list if there wasn't an abundance of vegan options, but this isn't what you might expect when you here vegan food. Beezlebab leaves any idea of raw, healthy vegan cuisine at the door, and offers you a delightfully grubby alternative. This is for the vegan who misses their post-night out kebab. With an array of vegan hot dogs, fries and kebabs, all for roughly a fiver, Beezlebab offers a much-needed greasy-spoon alternative to your typical vegan restaurants.

Franco Manca

Now, eating out isn't necessarily about an all around cheap menu, but about that one cheap dish on the menu that will satisfy your hunger and your bank balance, and Franco Manca's £4.95 Marinara Pizza is just that. With a beautiful, doughy base and a delicious sauce, topped with garlic and oregano, there's nothing more you could need! This authentic Italian classic is a godsend for both it's taste and it's value.

Couscups

This last option on the list is a great new local business, hellbent on offering a healthy street food option. Located in Brighton station, this is the perfect meal for commuters. Whether you forgot to have breakfast, or you've just got back to Brighton and can't be bothered to cook anything for dinner, this ones for you. Couscups offer and absolutely filled-to-the-brim cup of delicious couscous and salad. This is the perfect healthy option that won't scrimp on portion size and will knock your tastebuds out the park.
