“Hold tight man like Darkzy” - if you know, you know! If we had to pick just one UK DJ that has had the biggest impact on the underground club scene, it would hands-down be Nottingham's Darkzy.
Producing since he was 12 years old, after being introduced to music through his brother, Darkzy's apparent sudden rise to fame was actually the result of almost a decade of hard work - and boy, has it paid off!
At the tender age of 21, he is already on the proverbial train to stardom in the underground club circuit. After releasing a series of bassline bangers including a savage retake of Drake's 'One Dance', Darkzy has gained massive recognition in the scene and put Nottingham firmly on the map.
His meteoric rise to the top of his game also owes thanks in no small part to label and collective Crucast, which carries a wealth of incredible emerging talent including the likes of Skepsis and Bassboy.
Native caught up with Darkzy earlier this year where he revealed some surprising listening habits and let us know what he thinks of the UK Bassline scene - read the full interview here.
The Nottingham heavyweight is a pioneering influence on the current UK Bassline scene and his hard hitting, infectious tunes are currently tearing up clubs up and down the UK.
Off the back of relentless touring and an incredibly solid back-catalogue of certified wobblers, Darzky has been making some serious waves for a while now and is finally starting to get the recognition he deserves. If you're not familiar with Darkzy, “Gun fingers” (below) shows his nous as a producer, where influences of DnB, Garage & Bassline are abundant.
Darkzy is currently playing venues up and down the UK on his Dark Nightz tour, which comes to Concrete Thursdays at The Astoria in Portsmouth on 15/03/18. After absolutely killing it at the same venue back in late '17, we can't wait to see what new tricks Darkzy has up his sleeve for us this time around.
Concrete Thursdays was chosen by Mixmag as one of Britain's top student nights, bringing some of the biggest names in electronic music to Portsmouth and constantly pushing the boundaries. The night is a well-established student favourite in Portsmouth, playing a broad mix of House, Garage, Techno, Grime and bass music every Thursday at The Astoria.
This is his only confirmed Portsmouth date for 2018, so make sure you snap those tickets up because it's a night you really shouldn't be missing!
