Didn’t get any cards this Valentine’s Day? Well don’t threat, cause those Cupids down at Psychedelia South have found you the perfect date. Get yourself over to the aptly named Heartbreakers this Friday and Aussie rockers The Babe Rainbow will serenade you with their sun-kissed brand of 60s psych.

They’ll be playing tracks like ‘Losing Something’ and ‘Johny Says Stay Cool’ from their eponymous debut album, which they released last summer with the help of King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard’s Stu Mackenzie. These songs are effortlessly cool, and drip with real authenticity. “I guess if you were a cowboy, you’d make cowboy music,” said vocalist and drummer Angus Dowling, when asked why he writes surf rock.

Southampton’s the first date on The Babe Rainbow’s European tour, but don’t think that means they’re gonna be rusty. They’ve got bags of gigging experience, having supported West Coast psych royalty Allah-Las in America last year. If an endorsement from those guys isn’t enough to get you down to Heartbreakers and forget that you’re heartbroken, then you’re beyond saving.

Forget the Solent. The Babe Rainbow will take you all the way to Byron Bay, and your one-way ticket’s only £7 in advance. Get it here.
