We've got it down to an art form.
It’s 3pm, you’ve just woken up with a horrendous throbbing in your head and a vampire-like sensitivity to light. You get out of bed, fetch something to eat and before you know it, you find yourself fast asleep. You wake up for the second time to find that it’s evening. It seems like you’ve overcame the worst it. With half a bounce in your step, all you’d like to do is go out. Well, we’ve got you covered! Here are some things to do in Bristol at night that is completely hangover friendly:
Put on something comfy, drown out the world with your favourite playlist and head over the Cascade stairs. Do some people-watching and get to know the different kinds of people that Bristol is made of. Some nights buskers will perform there, which means free live music, plus, if you’re feeling particularly extra that day, you can get a nice warm crepe from Quick Crepes. Grab some friends and strategize.
Catch up with some friends who may also be having your hangover and play some board games. Chance & Counters is a board game café located at the Christmas Steps that has around 750 board games to play. It is open from 10am till 11pm daily. Call 0117 329 1700 or visit their website to book a four-hour slot.
When I say drink, I mean bubble tea. Try burning off some of last night’s calories by chewing on some tapioca balls. Granted, you’d gain some calories but I won’t tell if you won’t. If you want to burn some calories, you can head up Park Street to where Yakinori is situated. There you can buy bubble tea till 11pm daily. They do however close an hour earlier on Sundays.
I know what you’re thinking but no, I’m not talking about those erotic massages you can get in Stokes Croft. But no judgement if that’s what you floats your boat. I'm talking about the ones where you get kneaded until you fall asleep drooling. Try out Bannatyne from £12. Bookings are needed but it is possible to book on the same day. Check out their services here.
Distract yourself from the hangover pains with some comedy. Bristol Improv Theatre has shows most nights of the week. Draped with warm fairy lights and a mini stage, the bar is a quaint place to wait pre-show. With the ring of a bell, you’dll be directed to the main stage. What better way to spend your night, than with tears of joy and heaving from laughter. Tickets range from absolutely nothing to £15.
