We take a look at our favourite club brands in Southampton
With summer just around the corner, we here at Native think it’s more important than ever for you to know when the next essential party is. And what better way of finding out than by getting to know the guys that are throwing them?
That’s why we’ve compiled this handy list of our favourite up and coming club brands in Southampton. Go and check them out!
Gold School
Gold School have been throwing disco parties in Southampton for a while now – in clubs, gardens and even on boats – but this year they’ve decided to up their game, enlisting the help of Horse Meat Disco to plan their biggest event yet.
Their Garden Party at Sobar on May 19th promises “tropical vibes,” and “the smoothest discotheque on the South Coast,” making it the perfect way to start the summer. They’ve also booked Dan Shake for an after party at Junk, meaning the party doesn’t have to stop when the sun goes down.
Last month, we sat down with Gold School for our Native Mix series, and they assured us that they had plenty more planned for 2018, too. They’re definitely ones to watch out for this year!

Astrofunk
Slightly newer to the disco scene in Southampton is Astrofunk, who celebrated their first birthday in February. You shouldn’t let their age fool you, though. When it comes to providing space age grooves, these guys are wise beyond their years, and that’s why their lunar landing party on May 9th is one you mustn’t miss.
They’ll be partying with very special guests Filta Freqz, and transporting Orange Rooms to another dimension with some “out of this world décor.” If you’ve not got yours already, grab your tickets here! It’s your chance to catch Astrofunk before they play Budafest in August.
Bloom
Southampton house, techno and disco brand Bloom have been doing it right for the past three years. Throwing small and intimate parties at the likes of Orange Rooms, Mettricks, Lancaster Vault and the Brook, they have been sticking to their policy of vinyl only. Not only has the venue selection been expressive of their desire for a small intimate club night, but they have had an impressive selection of bookings including techno heavyweight Jane Fitz and Mark E.
The rise of Bloom as a brand has happened organically. They have stuck to what they know, keeping the parties small and focusing heavily on the music that’s played. Making every party they throw have an electric atmosphere, while retaining its feeling of exclusivity. Bloom really don’t rely on their bookings to throw a good party for them either. Their own resident DJ’s seem to kill it every time they’re behind the decks. Their third birthday will be celebrated later on this year, and the event has already been posted on resident advisor with only 150 tickets available! But if you can get your hands on a ticket, it’s sure to be a special night.
Fleur De La Vie
Fleur De La Vie just hosted their first party of the year – an event that saw them take over The Social’s Absolute Lounge for a night of funk, disco, house and techno – and whilst they haven’t announced any other events just yet, you can be sure that this won’t be the last we here from them.
A network of friends “on a mission to create the perfect party vibe,” these guys are definitely worth keeping a close eye on. Check out their Facebook here – you never know when they might announce their next party!
